If you live in or around Sandgate then you have probably heard of Generations Cafe.It is located on Deagon Street, Brighton and is like walking into your great aunts living room, in all its vintage kitsch glory.
It is a family owned and operated cafe and you really get the feeling that a lot of love and attention has gone into every decision regarding the cafe. From the fair trade organic coffee, to the yummy homestyle food with plenty of gluten free and dietary options, and the relaxed home away from home atmosphere. Generations is very family friendly with kids sized furniture and a well stocked toy box, the menu also offers plenty of cold drinks and smoothies for the kids and my girls certainly enjoyed their babycinos. They also offer story-time on a wednesday morning at 9:30am which is no doubt a hit with mothers and children alike.
Generations is also focused on sustainability and all their used coffee beans are given to the Sandgate Community Garden to fertilise their veggie patches. You could happily while away a few hours here enjoying the great coffee and conversation with friends or simply indulging in some cake and reading the newspaper or a few of the interesting magazines they have on offer on a sunday morning. If you don’t have time to stop for a while though, they also have the option to text-ahead your coffee orders, that way you can dash in on your way out and still enjoy a lovely generations blend. Not a local? Well then make a day of it and take a stroll along the beautiful Sandgate foreshore while you are here. So no excuse but to get down to Generations Cafe and check it out.
